Barbra Streisand, Katy Perry, Paul McCartney are among the 133 stars to have signed an open letter against gun violence after the US Senate rejected four new gun control proposals.
Billboard magazine has released an open letter to Congress signed by 133 actors and music stars as well as 57 executives who have expressed their frustrations following the rejection of the proposed measures.
The magazine featured the appeal letter on the cover with a petition featured in the inside pages.
Adam Lambert, Alicia Keys, Streisand, Beck, Billy Joel, Bonnie Raitt, Britney Spears, Calvin Harris, Carole King, Cher, Elvis Costello, Jennifer Lopez, Perry, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Meghan Trainor, McCartney, Ringo Starr, Selena Gomez, Tony Bennett, Yoko Ono and Zayn Malik are some of the signatories.
"As leading artists and executives in the music industry, we are adding our voices to the chorus of Americans demanding change," the July 2 cover reads.
Conan O'Brien, Ellen DeGeneres, James Corden and Lee Daniels are also featured.
"Music always has been celebrated communally, on dancefloors and at concert halls. But this life-affirming ritual, like so many other daily experiences - going to school or church or work - now is threatened, because of the gun violence in this country," the letter read.
"The one thing that connects the recent tragedies in Orlando is that it is far too easy for dangerous people to get their hands on guns. We call on Congress to do more to prevent the gun violence that kills more than 90 Americans every day and injures hundreds more.
