A local court today directed the Jaipur Development Authority to restore status quo by opening the seal and reconstructing the structure it had demolished during its drive of sealing the gates of Hotel Raj Mahal Palace, owned by the former royal family of Jaipur.
The JDA had on August 24 sealed the gates of the hotel, saying these are located on government land. However, the gates were re-opened temporarily by JDA on Sunday on the recommendation of a ministerial committee on the family's request.
Additional District Judge Kailash Mishra gave orders to open the seal and reconstruct the structure within one month on the application filed by the family, counsel for the family Ramesh Sharma said.
He also ordered JDA to reconstruct the structure it demolished during its action.
During the action, a heated argument between JDA Commissioner Shikhar Agrawal and BJP MLA Diya Kumari, member of the former royal family, had also broken out.
The family, led by former Rajmata Padmini Devi and her daughter Kumari, had taken out a rally against JDA and later requested Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje to revoke the action by the development authority.
After a meeting with Padmini Devi on Saturday, Raje constituted a committee of ministers which recommended re-opening of the gates temporarily till alternative arrangements for entry were made following which JDA opened the gates on Sunday morning.
