Houses, shops gutted

Adjoining houses and
shops of two brothers were gutted at Silinda under Chakdaha police station in Nadia district today, the police said.
Four rooms including two tailoring shops were reduced in to ashes because of suspected short circuit.
Tapan Majumder and Dwipankar Majumder, owners of the shops, went to the local burning ghat to cremate the body of a relative.
However, their wives and children were at homes when the fire broke out at around 1.30 AM. On Tuesday when the fire broke out, the police said.
Local people tried to douse the blaze and later two fire tenders went from Ranaghat and Kalyani and controlled the fire within an hour.
