HP CM directs police to maintain law and order in state

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today directed police to work with missionary zeal and take all steps to maintain law and order in the state.

Presiding over a review meeting of the state home department here, the chief minister said that Himachal Pradesh was known for peace, tranquillity and harmony but the recent Kasauli incident was a blot on the functioning of the police.

He said that efforts should be made to ensure that such incidents do not reoccur in future.

The police should launch special awareness campaigns regarding drug abuse, violations of Motor Vehicle Act and safety of women etc.
