The Himachal Pradesh cabinet today decided to reduce the minimum period for regularisation of daily wagers from seven years to five years, benefiting a large number of workers.
All workers, who have completed five years of continuous service on March 31, 2107, would stand regularised, an official spokesman said.
Ahead of assembly polls slated later this year, the government has made several announcements.
Last month, the cabinet had decided to regularise the teachers appointed on contractual basis after a three year period instead of five years.
Following the discontinuation of subsidy on sugar, the cabinet today also decided to start a new subsidy scheme to provide subsidised sugar to Above poverty Line (APL) and Below poverty Line (BPL) families.
Against the rate of Rs 45 per kg in open market, the sugar would be made available to APL families at Rs 29 per kg and to BPL families at Rs 18 per Kg, Food and Supplies minister, GS Bali said.
The tenders for procurement of sugar under the new subsidy scheme would be invited soon, he added.
The cabinet also gave its nod to creation of over 250 posts in different departments.
