HP: Heavy rains trigger landslides, snowfall in higher ridges

Heavy rains continued to lash several parts of Himachal Pradesh today, triggering fresh landslides and bringing down the mercury, while higher ridges received fresh snowfall.
The weatherman, however, said the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon had been delayed by one week as it got weakened after reaching Uttar Pradesh. It is likely to reach Himachal Pradesh after July 4.
The Dhouladhar ranges of Dharamsala have been experiencing snowfall since Tuesday night, while heavy rains lashed many areas.
The Manali-Leh National highway was blocked again near Patseu due to landslide and about 70 vehicles were stranded.
Rains also triggered landslides in interior areas.

Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district, which received 77mm of rain since yesterday, was the wettest place in the state, followed by Dharamsala and Bharwain 55mm each, Nadaun 52mm, Bangana 50mm, Dehra Gopipur and Nahan 49mm each, Renuka 48mm, Mehre 47mm, Guler 45mm, and Una 44mm.

Sangrah and Naina Devi recorded rainfall of 40mm each, followed by Nagrota Suriyan 38mm, Kandaghat 36mm, Hamirpur 34mm, Sujanpur Tira 33mm, Dharampur 32mm, Gohar 31mm, Rajgarh 30mm, Solan 27mm, Kotkhai 26mm, Jubbar Hatti 25mm, Palampur 24mm, Rohru and Aghar 23mm each, Shimla and Sarkaghat 22mm each, Jogindernagar 20mm, Manali 18.2mm, Sundernagar 16.8mm, Kalpa 11mm and Keylong 9mm.

Una was the hottest place in the state at 27.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Dharamsala 25.8, Sundernagar 25.2, Nahan 24, Solan 22.5, Bhuntar 22, Shimla 20.1 and kalpa 16 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature also dropped by a few notches and Kalpa in tribal Kinnaur district recorded a low of 11.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Keylong 12.3 degrees Celsius.
Key tourist resorts of Manali, Shimla and Dharamsala recorded their minimum at 12.4, 15.6 and 18 degrees Celsius respectively.
The MeT office has forecast snowfall at many places in higher ridges. Light to moderate rains are expected in some places in lower and mid hills. Mandi and Kangra districts are likely to receive heavy rains tomorrow.
