Deputy Commissioner, Chamba, Sudesh Mokhta said that a mob gheraoed the office of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) at Tissa and shouted slogans against the local administration, seeking justice for the rape victim.
The mob then went on rampage damaging shops, torching a PWD rain shelter and two kiosks, Mokhta, who rushed to the spot said.
He added that the situation was now under control.
Following the alleged rape of a girl by a teacher 3-4 days back, the police had registered a case at the Tissa police station and arrested the accused, an official said.
Earlier, a mob had gheraoed the school premises and raised slogans against the staff as well as the administration demanding the arrest of the accused.
The hill state was earlier rocked by protest over another rape case in Kotkhai near Shimla. The victim in the Kotkhai case was also a school girl, according to the police.
