HP launches Skill Development Initiative; signs 17 with pacts

Chief Minister Vidarbha Singh today launched the Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Initiative aimed at increasing employment opportunities in the state.
Besides, the state today signed 17 pacts in skill development with industrial organisations and Sector Skill Councils (SSCs).
The pacts were signed with various industrial organizations including the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
The Sectoral Skill Councils represent more than 20 Central Ministries and 50 large industries associations which would partner Himachal Kaushal Vikas Nigam in demand based and quality driven skill development, the Chief Minister said.
Singh said, signing of agreements with different industrial organizations and SSCs would give an edge to the state on skilling, assessment and placement issues.
Spelling out the future plans of the state government for skill based programs and initiatives, he said priority would be given for strong engagement with industries association and SCCs to get demand information and identifying internship and placement opportunities.
He said, the state would notify its own skill development policy and Industrial Technical Institutes would be opened for imparting training in inter-related trades.
Further, the Chief Minister said that the government is mulling to open Skill Development University in the state.
