Union Minister J P Nadda today demanded that the investigations into the horrifying rape and murder of a school girl in the Kotkhai area in this district be handed over to the CBI.
Meanwhile, amid protests over the incident, the state Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for information about the perpetrators of the crime.
Singh also directed the state police to make efforts to nab the culprits as soon as possible. The police have formed a special investigation team headed by IG, southern range, to solve the case.
Meanwhile, Union Health Minister J P Nadda condemned the rape and murder and demanded that the investigations of the case be handed over to the CBI.
In a statement, Nadda expressed anguish and dismay over the "lackadaisical approach of the police" and alleged that the law and order situation has deteriorated to the unprecedented levels.
"Such horrific and dastardly crimes were alien to the 'DevBhumi', and now it establishes our claims that the law and order situation in the state has taken a serious hit and has reached the lowest ebb," he claimed.
A minor school girl was raped and murdered on July 4 and her body was recovered from the nearby forest in Kotkhai area of Shimla district after two days.
Ever since, vehement protests for justice for the victim are going on in the hill state.
