Stepping up measures to prevent further spread of malaria and dengue in Haryana, the state's Health Department staff have been directed not to proceed on any kind of leave without prior permission of the competent authority.
The leaves of all the officers and officials of the Department have already been cancelled with effect from September 15, 2015, and they have been ordered to join their duties immediately, an official spokesman said here.
"These orders will continue till the situation normalises," he said.
Notably, dengue has claimed two lives each in Haryana and neighbouring Punjab this season.
Meanwhile, in Chandigarh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate(East) -cum-Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation (East), Danish Ashraf along with anti-malaria team of the Union Territory inspected a Transport Undertaking workshop in Phase-1, Industrial Area, where around 1,000 discarded tyres were found lying unattended in the open area which were filled water due to recent rainfall.
The tyres were emptied immediately and asked to put under the shed after being properly covered.
The anti-malaria team took measures to stop mosquito breeding with fogging done at the spot.
In Chandigarh, 146 persons have tested positive for dengue, with one death being reported from the city.
