With a view to checking overloaded vehicles on inter-state roads, the Haryana government has decided to set up check-posts at 18 different locations to intensify inspection with the help of drones and CCTV cameras.
Vehicles found defying the loading norms would be e- challaned. Each check-post will be monitored by a CCTV camera and a drone, an official spokesperson said here today.
One such location would be the boundary between Karnal district and Uttar Pradesh where a new check-post would be established. Work on it would begin this month, he said.
Teams comprising police personnel and staff from other government departments would be formed. To ensure 24-hour vigil, each team would work for eight hours and have one in- charge.
Each employee would be allotted duty for three days every month and duty roster would be made in the DIO Office in the Mini-Secretariat, Karnal, the spokesperson said.
During the checking, every employee would wear a badge bearing his name and carry an identity card. Vehicles would also be arranged to facilitate work by the team, he added.
Arrangement for the check-post would be done by the executive engineer of the Panchayati Raj department.
Portal cabins would be set up at all identified locations and the state transport department would bear its expenses.
Checking would be done within five km of the mining area.
The spokesman said overloaded vehicles would be e- challaned throughout the state with the help of android-based tablets and Wi-Fi Thermal Printer would bring out the challan slip.
The authority to challan would vest in sub-inspector of the police department, mining officer and inspector, inspector of excise and taxation, Panchayati Raj and Public Works (Building and Roads) Departments, among other officer of various departments, he added.
