Chinese telecom firm Huawei today announced a year-on-year growth of 44 per cent with shipment of 108 million smartphones globally in 2015.
The consumer business group of Huawei, which deals in mobile devices, posted a 70 per cent increase in its revenue at USD 20 billion at the end of 2015 as against 2014, the company said in a statement.
"With Huawei shipping 108 million smartphones in 2015, the company cemented its position among the top three in market share while significantly reducing the competition gap. Additionally, Huawei has held the highest market share in China since March 2015," the statement said.
The company's show is also driven by its success in global markets.
Huawei products like the P8, Mate 7, Mate S and Nexus 6P have been well-received internationally.
While more than 7 million Mate 7 smartphones were shipped in 2015, the figures for Mate S exceeded 8 lakh within four months of its release, with sales picking up in 48 countries in Asia and Europe.
The Huawei Nexus 6P, produced in collaboration with Google, was a big draw in North America, selling out in the Google store within a month of its release.
Globally, the Nexus 6P was sold in more than 60 countries and regions, the statement added.
