Police said a bag was noticed by a youth at Machkhowa Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) bus stand here and he informed authorities about it.
Police rushed to the spot and with the help of CRPF seized 99 pieces of gelatin sticks and 100 detonators along with some other objects from the 10-kg bag.
Seven persons who were moving about suspiciously near the spot have been detained for interrogation, the police said.
Huge quantity of explosives was seized from a train at Lower Haflong Railway station in Dima Hasao district.
GRP sources said the explosives were stashed in two bags and seized from a compartment of Silchar-bound Cachar Express coming from Lumding during a routine security check by GRP personnel at the station.
Police are probing the matter to ascertain who smuggled the explosives into the state.
