Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Farooq meets Pak envoy

Separatist Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq today met Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit here, about two months after his proposed meeting with Pakistan's National Security Adviser Sartaj Aziz was aborted.
The Mirwaiz is understood to have discussed issues related to Kashmir during his 70-minute meeting with Basit, sources said.
Significantly, the separatist leader met the Pakistan envoy on a day when Kashmir was witnessing tension and clashes over the death of a trucker who succumbed to injuries suffered in a petrol bomb attack 10 days back.
Earlier, the Mirwaiz was supposed to visit the Pakistan High Commission in August to meeting the visiting Pakistan NSA who was scheduled to be in Delhi for talks with his counterpart Ajit Doval.

That plan was scuttled as Mirwaiz was detained on arrival in Delhi and Aziz subsequently cancelled his visit here.
