District and Sessions Judge Jagdish Baheti convicted and sentenced to life in prison Saleem (27), his mother Zubaida (65) and father Nyadar Sheikh Nannu (75) in connection with the death of his wife Sabeena (21).

According to prosecution, Sabeena got married to Saleem in 2009 after which she was tortured by her in-laws for dowry. They later set her ablaze on July 31, 2011.

After battling for life for five days she succumbed to her injuries on August 4 in the neighbouring Khargone district.

In her dying-declaration, the victim had blamed her in-laws for the incident, the prosecution added.
