Lt Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung who was among early voters in the Lok Sabha polls here today, said, he "voted for democracy" and has full faith in it.
"I have voted for democracy. I have voted for India and I have full faith in democracy and I want it to succeed in this country," Jung told PTI.
Accompanied by his wife and daughter, Jung and his family cast their ballots at a polling station in Rajpura Road under Chandni Chowk constituency amid palpable excitement.
Asked what weighed over his minds more as a voter and less as a Lt Governor, the 63-year-old said education, safety and equal rights for men and women were primary issues.
"For Delhi, I can talk about issues of law and order and development. I want growth for our children, education, safety and want them to see become good citizens. And, women should become equal partner in this contribution," he said.
Speaking on the Maoist attacks in Naxal-hit areas in Bihar and Jharkhand today, Jung reposed his faith in the security arrangements made by the Election Commission.
"I believe Election Commission and police must have made all (security) arrangements. Their might be incidents, they might happen to us, but as far as security measures are concerned, they must be good," he said.
Flashing his inked fingers to oblige camerapersons, Jung exhorted citizens to come out in maximum numbers and vote.
"My vote is for success of democracy. I hope and invite maximum number of people to come out and vote," he said.
