The movie will feature new versions of the classic songs "Wind Beneath My Wings" and "The Glory of Love," and include several other songs recorded specifically for the movie, reported Variety.
Production on the tele film is set to begin on August 15 in Vancouver.
Bette Midler originated the role of CC in the 1998 film, opposite Barbara Hershey as Hillary. The original film was directed by Garry Marshall, who died on July 19 at age 81.
The new iteration of "Beaches" is executive produced by Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan.
