An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) has been recovered from a railway track between Karampada and Topadih near Jharkhand-Odisha border, hours after a two-day bandh called by CPI (Maoists) began from today, CRPF sources said.
CRPF personnel led by Assistant Commandant Manish Mishra were on search operation in naxal-affected Saranda forest when they found the 25 kg IED near a railway track, meant for transporting goods of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), in the morning.
The Bomb Disposal Squad recovered the explosive and defused it.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Chakradharpur division) of South Eastern Railway, Satyam Prakash said train service was not affected as no passenger train passes through that track.
