ACB Deputy SP Subhasish Chakrabarty and IFS officer Alankar Jha were arrested by an ACB special team from a restaurant on the northern fringes of the city yesterday when Jha was allegedly trying to bribe Chakrabarty.
They will be in police custody till September 29 when the case will be heard again.
Jha had allegedly been involved in a misappropriation of funds case when he was the Director of the Darjeeling Zoo and Chakrabarty is the investigation officer in that case.
Acting on a tip off that Chakrabarty was going to meet Jha at a restaurant in Dunlop area and a deal was likely to take place between them, the ACB team arrested the two.
A sum of Rs 2,48,500 in cash was allegedly seized from the two.
They were arrested under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC.
