"We are planning to begin the construction soon. It will happen in phases. Initially, the cost is expected to be around Rs 320 crore," IIM-Tiruchirapalli Dean (Academics) V Gopal told reporters here.
At present, IIM-Tiruchirapally is operating from the campus of National Institute of Technology, Trichy.
He said the central government had given its grant for the fund and once the construction begins the total cost was expected to be around Rs 500 crore.
The new campus would come up on a 175 acre land in Pudukottai district, he said.
"Research activities will be part of the Centre. Basically, we will be doing all the topics related to corporate governance. One such initiative is to train corporate lawyers of a Mumbai-based firm. We will begin by June 22...," Agnihotri said.
On the status of IIM Bill, Gopal said there was a consensus on the draft bill and was with the Select Committee. "The recommendations made by the Select Committee should come out," he said.
