Students are expected to develop new applications, innovative technologies or devise workable action plans to answer pressing problems in contemporary time at the INAE (Indian National Academy of Engineering) competition, an IIT-KGP statement said.
The competition will be held in two phases.
"One of the objectives of the INAE is to provide a forum for our youth to manifest their budding talents and entrepreneurship zeal for improving the lives of common people," Professor Jayanta Mukhopadhyay of the Computer Science and Engineering Department said.
The final phase will be held at IIT Kharagpur between August 10 and 12.
Apart from the academic segment, there are two other segments - Product Design and Development, and Mobile Application Development.
The problems presented to students in the first phase will be related to contemporary issues such as unemployability of engineering students who graduate every year, and devising a new curriculum for engineering colleges.
"The winning recommendation will be sent to the AICTE," Professor M K Tiwari, a part of the institute faculty which is arranging the show, said.
