Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today directed the Chief Secretary to conduct an enquiry into the allegations of illegal detention of persons in the detention centres without following legal procedure, officials said.
Enquiries will be carried out by the Divisional Commissioners concerned to ascertain the veracity of the allegations in detention centres at Goalpara, Kokrajhar and Silchar.
Meanwhile, the officials said, over 14 'declared foreign nationals' from Bangladesh were arrested from various places of Sonitpur district last week and sent to the detention centres for deportation.
