Illegal liquor stock seized, 2 held

Illegal liquor stock worth about Rs 1.21 crore was seized by the Excise department here, a senior official said today.
Two persons have been arrested in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off that a huge stock of liquor, banned for selling in Maharashtra, was being transported from Madhya Pradesh to the state, the Excise department's mobile squad intercepted a truck at Vinchur Square on Manmad-Shirdi road here yesterday.
From the truck, 1,192 boxes containing liquor bottles were seized, acting Excise Inspector Y R Savkhedkar said.
Two persons, including the truck driver, were arrested, he said adding that further investigation was on.
