A BSP legislator and five others of his family were booked today for their alleged involvement in illegal mining in Khetri area of the district.
"The FIR was registered against MLA Pooranmal Saini, his brothers Sajjan, Harpal, Ashok, Ramesh and their uncle Rohitash under Mining Act by mining department for allegedly conducing illegal mining," SHO Brij Mohan said.
However, the MLA rejected the allegations and said the FIR was lodged under pressure from mining mafia.
"I have been raising voice against illegal mining mafia in the area who are behind this case. Our family have one agriculture land and a portion of that was being levelled by my brother.
"They took it as illegal mining and lodged the FIR," he told PTI.
