A new school building, constructed with Indian assistance of Rs 20.31 million, will help create better facilities for over 2,000 students in southern Nepal, Indian Ambassador Ranjit Rae said today.
Rae inaugurated the building for Sri Zilla Uchchangal Higher Secondary School, one of the oldest government recognised schools in Parsa district, that was built under the Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Programme.
This would create an improved environment for learning and contribute to the development of education in the district, said a statement from the Indian Embassy.
India provided aid for constructing the building to help create better facilities for over 2,000 students, about 38 per cent of them girls.
Besides this, India is currently executing two development projects in Parsa district with grant assistance of Rs 25.9 million, while four projects have been completed at a cost of Rs 70.2 million.
India is also building an Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Birgunj Municipality in the district. The ICP will have state-of-the art facilities and customs and immigration services for the smooth cross-border movement of goods and traffic.
India is also building ICPs at Raxaul (India) and Birgunj (Nepal) as well as Jogbani (India) and Biratnagar (Nepal) under Phase-I of the project.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Ambassador Rae expressed the hope that the various educational projects being executed under the Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Programme will help the people.
