In a letter to Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi, Reddy said Indian embassy there should intervene and discuss with Angolan government to ensure that the Indian workers get justice.

He said the workers were injured when police opened fire after they went on a protest on May 9 over alleged non-payment of salaries by their employers, ETA Star International and the FPKS Company in Angola.

He claimed that the workers were arrested and imprisoned without medical aid and are now unable to come back due to visa problem. Generally the passports of the workers are kept with the management, he wrote in the letter.

Around 1,500 Indian workers are employed in the company, one third of them are from Andhra Pradesh.
