With Donald Trump set to take over as the US President, a key American official today said the country's partnership on building Smart Cities in India "will endure" the transition in the administration.
"As we look ahead to the New Year, we know there will be transitions and adjustments. I can say with conviction that our Smart Cities partnership with India will endure," US Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission MaryKay Carlson said.
"It will endure thanks to all of you and your commitment to building on the tremendous progress we have already made to help make India's cities smart, efficient, and prepared for sustainable growth in the decades ahead," she said, addressing a workshop on Smart Cities.
"Much has already been accomplished with our US-India Smart City collaboration since it began in earnest back in 2014, when the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) invited us to be part of India's Smart Cities directive," she said.
Billionaire businessman Trump beat seasoned politician Hillary Clinton in the polls last month. He will take over as the 45th President of the United States in January.
