He was expecting more medals for India in the London Olympics and there could be at least one gold medal this time, Anand told reporters here.
On chess, he said India could become a super power in the sport in the next 10 years.
"There is no consistency at the senior level. This will change. Lot of youngsters are doing very well in the under 20 age group Internationally. When they come to senior level, India could become a chess super power," he said.
Asked if Chess would become part of Olympics, he said "It appears very remote now. It is not impossible. Right now it is remote."
Earlier, Anand, the Brand Ambassador for NIIT, presented the NIIT Turning Point Scholarship to Clinta PB, from Kochi for the flagship GNIIT programme.
Anand, who won his fifth world championship title beating challenger Boris Gelfand in a nail-biting tie in Moscow in May, talked about his 'turning point' moments from the championship.
Speaking at the function, the chess wizard said: "Success does not happen by chance. It is the result of hard work, positive attitude, strategic thinking and making the most of the opportunities that life offers us'.
Unnikrishnan K Raghavan, Vice-President, Individual Learning Solutions, NIIT, said: "Viswanathan Anand has always demonstrated great sportsmanship abilities by translating challenges into turning point moments in his life. His phenomenal win in the recent World Championship is one such example which the youngsters of today can emulate'.
The Turning Point Scholarship has been instituted by NIIT, leading Global Talent Development Corporation and Asia's largest IT trainer, to commemorate the victory of Anand in the 2012 World Chess Championship.
