Ambassador Rae called on the newly elected 61-year-old Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) chairperson Prachanda at latter's residence at Lazimpat.
On the occasion, Ambassador Rae congratulated Prachanda on his election to the post of Prime Minister and wished for his successful tenure, according to sources close to the Prime Minister.
Yesterday Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had telephoned Prachanda and congratulated him on his election to the top executive post and also invited him to visit India.
This is the second time the Maoist chief has become Prime Minister after his brief stint with premiership came to an end in 2009.
