An Indian has been sentenced to 40 lashes and his driving license suspended for two months for driving under the influence of alcohol in Qatar.
He was caught by a police patrol while he was parking his vehicle in Shabiyat Khalifa area near Qatar's capital Doha, officials said.
Police found him to be under the influence of alcohol and also found a half-empty bottle of liquor in the car, Gulf Times reported.
His driving license has been suspended for two months, officials said.
The accused had consumed liquor and also confessed that he was driving under the influence of alcohol, prosecution said.
However, the accused denied that he was driving the vehicle while being drunk.
