At least three Indian nationals are among seven people arrested by Sri Lankan police for allegedly snatching gold from devotees in the country's north, police said today.
They were arrested yesterday during a religious festival at Sri Vallipuram Kovil in Point Pedro in the northern Jaffna peninsula.
They were accused of snatching gold from devotees who thronged in thousands to attend the festival, police said.
The Point Pedro police is conducting investigations.
In the recent past there have been several cases of Indian traders arrested in the eastern province for abusing entry visa conditions.
