Indigenously produced original products should be publicised widely for the benefit of the large section of the society, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said here today.
"Science and Technology is making rapid strides in the country but it requires a wider exposure so that its benefits may reach all sections of society.
"The indigenously produced original products need to be more widely publicised and the exhibitions like this help in achieving this objective," Singh, who is Minister for Science and Technology, said at "Expo-2014" -- a three day Mega Science Exhibition.
Singh also went to the Food and Technology section and singled out several healthy low calorie original food products from Indian sources.
He suggested that these should be encouraged for display in various health and medical conferences.
While going through the section consisting of stalls of different States to display the Government's achievements and schemes, Singh particularly appreciated the indigenously cultivated and grown Mango species from Central India which has been named as "Nawab Mango" and original fruits cultivated from the western States.
"Initiatives like Expo-2014, the Science and Technology innovations from India will not only find sponsors for economic support but will also play a role in enriching the health and well being of society," Singh said.
