The exhibition 'Facets of Indo-Islamic architecture in India' was inaugurated last night by Indian Ambassador Navdeep Suri at the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC) here.
The display by Mohamed Al Deeb will run up to December 24 and it includes a bouquet of selected images of a variety of Islamic monuments in India, including the Taj Mahal and the Agra fort, to name a few.
Indian and Islamic architecture bring together a large number of methods from diverse backgrounds, which together have influenced the monumental designs on the Indian subcontinent since the advent of Islam in the seventh century, a statement from the MACIC said.
The asymmetric nature of the buildings and courtyards are among the key features of Mughal architecture, the statement added.
