The eight-month-old girl, Roshni died when a tree fell on their home in Kanchannagar under Burmamines police station during storm, police sources said.
The mother and a three-year-old boy suffered injuries were rushed to Tata Main Hospital, police said today.
Several trees and electric poles were uprooted in the strong wind that lasted for around half hour with incessant rain continued since last night.
The steel city and adjoining areas experienced 21.8 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am to 11.30 am today, Met office sources said.
The water level in the two rivers - Kharkhai and Swarnarekha- also swelled.
