The Commandant rank officer, on deputation from Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to the special disaster mitigation force, has since been repatriated to his parent cadre.
Sources said the officer has been served a show-cause notice after the Union Home Ministry was informed by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) headquarters here that he had disobeyed instructions for a particular task in Sonprayag area in the state.
"It will be premature to say if the officer shirked his duty or he disobeyed the commands. The inquiry will find out the exact chain of communication between the command and the officer. The officer has been given a chance to explain his side," an official said.
The officer is considered a task-oriented commander as he has earlier served in anti-Naxal operations.
