Intense cold wave to continue in Himachal

The intense cold wave sweeping parts of Himachal Pradesh, particularly the hills, would continue for next three days, the Met department in Shimla said today.
The dry spell, which is making apple growers anxious, would also continue until January 16, it said.
The intense cold wave has continued unabated in parts of the state with the mercury hovering around the freezing point.
However, Shimla and Dharamsala were warmer and recorded minimum temperatures of 7.8 degrees Celsius and 5.4 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature rose marginally in Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district which recorded a low of - 9.3C, while Manali and Kalpa recorded a low of -3.4C and - 2.4C, followed by Bhuntar -1.5C, Sundernagar -0.3C, Solan 1.0C, Una 3.0C and Palampur 4.0C.

The day temperature also rose marginally and Unain the Shiwalik foothills was the warmest at 24.4C, followed by Solan22.0C, Sundernagar 20.6C, Nahan 19.8C, Dharamshala and Bhuntar 19.0C, Shimla 16.8C and Kalpa 13.0C.
