Inspired by underworld don Abu Salem, 22-year-old Vikas aka Abu, a resident of Delhi's Bakkarawala village, aspired to establish himself as a gangster in Mumbai, DCP (South West) R A Sanjeev said.
Vikas was wanted in connection with several cases including extortion attempt, Sanjeev said, adding that he was also involved in a firing incident at Aggarwal Sweets shop in Deenpur near Najafgarh in southwest Delhi.
Interrogation revealed that Vikas had come in contact with Dhirpal Kana, who ran an extortion gang, in Haryana's Jhajjar Jail a couple of years ago. After coming out of jail, he worked for Kana and used to extort money from people.
The plan to extort money from Aggarwal Sweets owner was hatched by Kana and another gangster Vikas Langarpuria. Two persons have already been arrested by the southwest police in connection with it, the officer added.
