Software services firm InterraIT is considering tier II cities like Chandigarh to set up delivery centres considering availability high speed broadband low attrition rates and pool of talented manpower at low-cost at these places compared to Delhi NCR and Bangalore.
The California-headquartered firm is in advanced stage of selecting a tier II city, where it will set up its next development centre, which is expected to start operations in the next 12 months.
"Delhi NCR, Bangalore and Mumbai have become very expensive. We are looking at tier II cities like Chandigarh, Bhopal, Durgapur, etc to set up our development centres," InterraIT India President and Managing Director Asoke Laha told PTI.
The firm has two development centres in India -- Noida and Kolkata-- which are the focal point in servicing its global customer base.
He added that the competition is very strong in NCR from other companies in the areas of skilled talented resources, which results in cost escalation, high attritions and less than desirable quality.
Laha, who is also the Founder and CEO of InterraIT Inc said: "We expect to start a centre within next 12 months. we are in the advance stage of selecting the tier II city, where our next development centre will be located."
Besides, the firm also plans to hire 200 professional in the next two years.
"There will be few lateral entries. I expect half of the new hires will be 0-2 years experience. The rest will be more experienced. The key will be to recruit an effective leader for the new centre," Laha said.
At present, the firm has around 500 employees.
InterraIT has operations spread across 5 countries, with sales network in the US, Canada, The UK, India and Japan.
