In the meeting here, it was decided that both agriculture and textiles ministries will sensitise jute farmers about certified seeds for cultivation and scale up implementation of 'Jute i-Care', a programme aimed at handholding the farmers to increase the supply of raw jute.
"Urged @AgriGoI officials to include Jute under Seed Village Programme & guide Jute farmers on second crop to increase income & productivity," Irani tweeted on the meeting.
The two ministers also discussed the promotion of agro textiles that can benefit industry as well as farmers since they are cost-effective and recyclable and the strategy for the coming financial year 2017-18.
