Two bombs exploded north of Baghdad tonight, killing 14 people, police and a doctor said, as Iraqi authorities struggle to contain a surge in violence.
The blasts -- one at a cafe in the city of Baquba and the other on a street -- also wounded 26 people.
The bombings came a day after attacks in Iraq, including a blast targeting Shiite worshippers, killed 13 people, while militants bombed a major oil pipeline.
Violence in Iraq has increased markedly this year, with analysts saying the upsurge is driven by anger among the Sunni Arab minority that the Shiite-led government has failed to address, despite months of protests.
Attacks have killed 3,438 people in Iraq since the beginning of 2013, according to figures compiled by AFP -- an average of more than 15 per day.
