Irom Sharmila appears in court

Irom Sharmila, who broke her 16-year-old fast demanding repeal of the Armed Forces Special Power Act, today appeared before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West, Lamkhanpau Tonsing.
The court had on August nine released her on bail on a personal bond of Rs 10,000 after she gave the assurance that she would end her fast.
Sharmila has been asked to appear before the same court on September 5, a court source said.
She was taken back to the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital where she is getting treatment, a hospital source said.
Asked by reporters outside the court about her fast, the Iron Lady of Manipur repeated what she had said on August nine that she had to break her fast since it had not helped her cause of getting AFSPA repealed.
