It is an illusion that I am choosy: Kalki

"Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" was the last commercial film Kalki Koechlin featured in and the actor said the reason for her absence from the mainstream Bollywood movies is a lack of good roles.
The 33-year-old actor, who turned the showstopper for designer Nikita Mhaisalkar at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017 today, said people have a misconception that she is choosy about her roles.
"I haven't got any commercial film which I think is important enough to do. I am not choosy, it is just an illusion people have. I have never been picky. Work take times to come and good work takes even longer," Kalki told PTI.

The actor said she is "unapologetic" about her choices and what people think about them.
"It is about being confident. When you are a public figure you have to know what you want and know what you want to put out there. Public image also ends up being your personal image. It is important to know what you stand for."
She said that while she respects her celebrity status, she also finds it important to take a break from the spotlight.
"It is very important to have my space that is where I prepare for my work. It is like you are a vessel and you are full so you need to empty yourself out somewhere. So you need to empty yourself to fill up with new idea.
