BJP today said the Income Tax notices to various political parties on donations received by them is not targetted at any particular party and the law is taking its course.

"The notices are not AAP-specific or targeted at any party. The I-T department has issued notices to 50 such companies which were converting black money into white," BJP national Secretary Shrikant Sharma said.

He said why was AAP worried as it had earlier claimed that it was ready for any probe and its leader Arvind Kejriwal was even ready for his arrest over the allegations.

In the run-up to Delhi assembly polls, BJP had launched a sharp attack against AAP with allegations of receiving Rs 2 crore by cheques through allegedly shell companies.

BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said that the notices have been sent as per a process and the law was only taking its course.

"It is merely a process of law. Law is doing its own work. Such companies have been issued I-T notices which do not have any addresses and names," he said.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which was hit by a controversy over a donation of Rs 2 crore it had got by cheques from alleged shell companies, has got the notice from the Income Tax department which has also sent missives to Congress and 48 other entities.

The notice was issued on February 9, a day before the counting of votes in Delhi Assembly elections was taken up which the AAP had swept.

CBDT in a statement said the notices to AAP and others have sought information about the identity of the contributors and other relevant details necessary to complete the probe.
