Men carrying a guitar are 30 per cent more likely to get a date, a new study has found.
Researchers from the University of South Brittany found women were 31 per cent more likely to give out their number if a man was carrying a guitar.
They believe women may see a musical instrument as a sign of intelligence or that the man is willing to learn new skills and enjoys various hobbies.
They also think holding a guitar is now seen as a sign of wealth and status, The Telegraph reported.
He told each girl he met that they were 'really pretty' and then asked if he could have her phone number to arrange a date.
He either carried a guitar, sports bag or nothing at all.
When carrying a sports bag, the man had a success rate of only nine per cent.
Also, women carrying guitars, did not experience the same boost in their chances of securing a date.
