Border guarding force the ITBP Monday donated Rs 8.5 crore to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund in the wake of the recent devastating floods in Kerala.
Director General of the force, R K Pachnanda, presented a cheque in this context to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the PMO Monday, a senior official said.
"The amount was raised through contribution from the ITBP personnel who donated their one-day salary," he said.
The about 80,000 personnel strong Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is tasked to guard the 3,488-km-long Sino-India border apart from rendering a variety of duties in the internal security domain of the country.
