J K: 4 bovine smugglers arrested
Press Trust of India Jammu Four alleged bovine smugglers were arrested and 46 bovines rescued in Udhampur and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir today, police said.
Based on a tip off, a police party of a police station at Chenani in Udhampur during checking of vehicles intercepted two trucks, a police officer said, adding that during their search, 33 bovines were found.
Four persons were arrested and a case registered, the officer said, adding that the vehicles were also seized.
In another such incident, 13 bovines were rescued and a truck seized at Ghagwal in Samba district today, he said, adding that the driver of the truck managed to escape.
A case has been registered and investigation is on to nab the driver, he added.
