J-K: Bid to smuggle bovines foiled, 23 animals rescued

The police arrested two persons for allegedly trying to smuggle 23 bovines to Kashmir valley in Rajouri district.

Police intercepted four vehicles carrying the animals in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district last night, a police officer said today.

While two drivers were arrested and their vehicles seized, the two other drivers managed to flee, leaving their vehicles behind, he said, adding that 23 bovines were rescued. The intercepted vehicles were seized and a case was registered in this connection, the officer said.
