Hailing the efforts of media in battling militancy, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Prasad today hoped that it will continue to raise their voice against the propaganda perpetrated by the militant organisations.
"There are people from our side and from the media who have raised their voice against militancy. They way people from our department have laid their lives in the line of duty in the same way people from media have also sacrificed their lives," Prasad said while paying a tribute to photojournalist, Ashok Sodhi, on his fifth death anniversary.
Prasad saluted the Sodhi's sacrifice and wished that people maintain the high standards set by him.
"One of our journalists from Daily Excelsior, Ashok Sodi, laid down his life while trying to cover an encounter. We salute him and hope that people maintain the same high standards that he has done...The way he has raised his voice against the propaganda created by the militant organisations," he said.
Sodhi laid down his life in the line of service while covering the Samba encounter in the year 2008.
Meanwhile, a photo exhibition was also organised to commemorate his death, which also visited by Deputy Chief Ministe Tara Chand, who paid rich tributes to the late journalist.
