J-K revenue official chargesheeted in corruption case

Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today produced a charge-sheet against a revenue official in a last year's corruption case.
"The Vigilance Organisation Kashmir produced a charge-sheet against Javid Ahmad Lone, the then Patwari (revenue official) halqa Sadrabal, Srinagar accused in a corruption case of 2012," SVO officials said.
The case against Lone was registered in August last year on a complaint lodged by one Fayaz Ahmad Gazi, a resident of Lal Bazar here.
In his complaint, Gazi had stated that the said the Patwari was demanding a bribe to transfer a residential property to his name, the officials said.

They said during the course of the investigation, the accused was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 2,000 from the complainant.
"The investigation of the case was concluded as proved and after government accorded sanction for launching prosecution against the accused, the Challan (charge-sheet) was produced in the court of Special Judge, anti-corruption Kashmir," they said, adding that the court has listed October 25 as the next date of hearing in the case.
