J&K's National Conference for Indo-Pak Joint Economic Council

Jammu and Kashmir's ruling party National Conference today advocated for creation of a Joint Economic Council (JEC) between India and Pakistan in order to ensure enduring trade ties between the two countries.
"Obtaining situation demands establishment of JEC between India and Pakistan akin to European Economic Council (EEC) in order to ensure enduring trade ties under shuttle diplomacy," party's Additional General Secretary Mustafa Kamal said in a statement here.
Kamal, younger brother of Union Minister Farooq Abdullah and uncle of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, said: "if reunification of eastern and western Europe was witnessed in post cold war era, why India and Pakistan, have been among laggards till recently?"

Referring to the Indo-Pak animosity, Kamal said both the nations have been suffering "colossal financial loss and perpetual economic depression for a long vintage".
He said the leadership of both the countries should substantiate their eclectic vision and deep humanitarian understanding by making cohesive efforts for the acquisition of economic sovereignty baring it their independence has proven "meaningless, weightless and tasteless.
